A biography is the story of a person’s life written by another person. The author of a biography researches the life of the person they have chosen to write about. Biographies are usually written about people who have made a contribution to their communities. Biographies give the reader an understanding of another person’s life, sometimes the subject of the biography is an important person from the past. Biographies can influence and inspire readers to do good in their own communities.

There are many great online and print resources to read and learn about important people. The Braddock Elementary School Library and the George Mason Regional Public Library both have biography sections full of great books you may take home to read about the following famous Americans.
